In summary, our client was exiting a bathroom located on a staircase when he was caused to trip and fall down the staircase. Anthony Joyce & Co Solicitors instructed a Consulting Engineer who confirmed that the design of the staircase, location of the bathroom, the step down from the bathroom and the lighting conditions at the accident locus were all hazards and were the cause of the accident.
The matter was submitted with the Injuries Resolution Board (formerly the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB)) and the matter was released as the Hotel denied liability for the accident. High Court proceedings were subsequently issued and a settlement was ultimately reached without our client having to give evidence in Court.
