Employment law advice for employers
Most problems at work can be dealt with early if the right steps are followed. We work with employers on:
- Grievance and disciplinary procedures, so the process is fair and properly documented
- Claims to the Workplace Relations Commission, including mediation and adjudication hearings
- Redundancy, from selection to the paperwork
- Employment contracts, handbooks and workplace policies
We work on fixed fees for each stage of a dispute, so you know the cost before we start.
Employment law advice for employees
If you have been dismissed, treated unfairly or asked to sign an agreement, it helps to know where you stand before you act.
Discrimination at work
Employees are protected against discrimination on grounds such as gender, age, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, family status and civil status. We advise on complaints to the employer and claims to the WRC.
Unfair and constructive dismissal
If you were dismissed without a fair reason or fair procedure, or felt you had no choice but to resign, you may have a claim. Read more about unfair dismissal claims
Representation at the WRC
We prepare your complaint, deal with your employer’s representatives and represent you at mediation or the adjudication hearing.
Asked to sign a redundancy or settlement agreement?
Your employer may ask you to get independent legal advice before you sign. We review the agreement with you by video call, witness your signature online and send the confirmation letter your employer needs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to come into the office?
No. Most meetings can be done by phone or video call, and documents can be signed online.
What should I send you?
Your contract, any letters or emails from your employer about the issue, and the dates of what happened.
How does a WRC claim work?
A complaint is made to the Workplace Relations Commission. Many cases are offered mediation first. If that does not resolve it, an adjudication officer hears both sides and makes a decision.
Do you act for employers and employees?
Yes. We act for both, but never for both sides in the same matter.
How long do I have to make a claim?
Time limits apply to most employment claims and they can be short. Contact us as soon as possible so we can check the deadline in your case.
